Producer Michael had been on our radar for quite some time!
Since we started firing off celebrity watch collection reviews on our YouTube channel a few years ago, people have been requesting a video on Michael Blakey (a.k.a. “Producer Michael”). We finally released it with the help of one of the newest members of our Rising Star program, George from Avant Garde (see video above).
George gave Producer Michael’s collection a Watch Game rating of 9.5 out of 10, which is pretty high (man, that’s an A in any college grade book!). Just think about this…only one perfect 10 has come out of our channel since inception! Nevertheless, a few people expressed their disagreement in the comments section of our video. They thought the rating was a bit too harsh!!
The missing .5 needed for a perfect score was based the watches George’s thought Michael was missing to make his collection more complete; a few more subdued pieces from other horologically desired brands like A Lange & Sohne, Vacheron, F.P. Journe, and H. Moser. Whether Michael adds some of these pieces or not, he’s still a very inspirational watch collector in our book!
The big surprise of the day came when Michael actually commented on our video, thanking us for the review (see image below)!
The funny thing about this is that out of all the celebrity reviews we’eve ever done, this is the first time that an actual celebrity takes the time to respond! Thank you for that Michael! We really appreciate! Oh, and that in-person review in Miami is going to be 🔥🔥! You and Carlos are going to get along swell! 😉
Big Jacob & Co Fan!
It’s no secret that Producer Michael is a BIG fan of Jacob & Co., a fact we reiterated on the video. In fact, we’re fans of Jacob’s watches too and have collaborated with them on different photo shoots in Downtown Miami (as well as on YouTube reviews [see this review on the Twin Turbo, or this one the Opera Godfather Edition, or this one on three Astronomias]) in the past. Jacob’s watches are uniquely innovative and complex, true works of horology art! In the Producer Michael review, we discussed two different Astros that Michael owns (including an Astronomia Clarity), as well as a spectacular Twin Turbo Furious tourbillon, and a few Epics. Nevertheless, by the time you read this, Michael’s love for the brand might have already led to an uptick in his Jacob watch count!
Other Brands in Producer Michael’s Collection
We didn’t cover every luxury watch model in Producer Michael’s collection, which would have been a daunting task in and of itself. Just his basic watch collection video series is already on Part 4 (can I smell a Part 5 in the horizon?!)! And don’t get me started on his other watch related videos…he just doesn’t stop making! What we did during our review is feature a few of the models that George really liked from most of the major brands Michael has collected. In addition to Jacob & Co., this included Rolex, Richard Mille, Audemars Piguet, Cartier and Patek Philippe.
