Hublot Big Bang Evolution Review

How can the Hublot Big Bang Evolution improve a guy’s watch game? And what the heck is the “watch game“ anyway?!?

Even though nothing much came up when I googled the phrase, it refers to one of the most important athletic abilities alpha males can harness in the sport of luxury watches, according to our Watch Your Style celebrity, Eric Rivera!

In the introduction to his video, this is what Eric says about the Olympic sport…

“But mostly, we want to focus on the watch game. The ‘watch game’ is pretty much just a competition between guys, who can outdo each other.”

One of the pieces that Eric believes can give men an edge in this competition is manufactured by the Swiss avant-garde watchmaker, Hublot: the Big Bang Evolution. Just the name sparks endorphic euphoria in the female brain within a 10 mile radius. After all, it’s “BIG” and makes a “BANG!”

In his review, Eric points out that when many of his customers express interest in the watch, they do so with a bit of insecurity. He goes on to explain that the reason guys hesitate to buy their first Hublot Big Bang is because they don’t want to get out of their safe zone. They may be used to more traditional models from brands such as Rolex and might be concerned with the lack of future price appreciation or decreased value of the Evolution timepiece over time.

What’s Eric’s kick-in-the-balls blunt advice regarding this?

“…man up and pull the trigger!”

This may crack up or piss off some, but Eric has a very good reason for his Evolution affinity.

He explains that the Big Bang is not a watch that you’re going to buy for investment purposes (check out blog post, “Is Investing in Rolex Watches Better than Stocks“ if you want to learn more about watches as investments). Instead, it’s a unique, “fun watch” for you to enjoy; a watch that you should have as much fun with as possible [and improve your “watch game” with] without being overly concerned about its long-term status! Eric adds…

“…it’s a good watch to have fun with. Take it out to the beach and to the club and just destroy this thing. Pretty much just beat this thing up.”

If you don’t find that funny, then check your heartbeat!

Even though Eric feels that the Big Bang line of Hublots is one to mainly have fun with in the luxury world, he does insist that when you commit, you do so at the right price and with the right model. He mentions…

“What’s a good price to buy a Big Bang, $8500 to 97, depending on the conditions…You gotta buy it right. You don’t want to go in there and pay retail for this thing, if not you’re gonna be hating your life.”

Regarding the exact model of the Big Bang to buy, he recommends to stick with the more traditional ones and shy away from the “special editions,” because there are just too many of them. He jokes…

“As far as Hublot. I don’t even know what’s gonna happen yet. Any minute now it’s gonna be like a Muammar Gaddfi edition.”

So what Big Bang models does he recommend you stick with? Eric adds…

“I would stick to the 44 mm, the Big Bang, the traditional one, mostly the classics: the Black Magic, the Evolution, the Matte.”

This is valuable advice, especially when buying a luxury watch that may not have a long term future. As Eric explains towards the end of this review, the Big Bang might have five (5) years of fashionable life left. This is also the reason why he suggests that those interested in buying a Big Bang do so as soon as possible – so “man up” and improve your Watch Game! Lol.
